The Small Story of a Big Company
1942 to 1955
Mr. Roland Boulanger founds Roland Boulanger & Cie ltee. At the time, the company manufactures doors and windows for the regional market. Its offices are located on St. Louis street in Warwick, Quebec.
The manufacture of mouldings is added to that of doors and windows. The plant is enlarged and the market served now encompasses all of eastern Canada.
1972 to 1976
Acquisition of the company Les Manufacturiers Warwick ltee, a sawmill located in Woburn, Quebec.
The Boulanger plant is razed by fire in February, and rebuilt later the same year. The business shifts its focus to the production of doors and mouldings. In April, the Woburn sawmill also burns to the ground. It too is rebuilt in the same year. The company now focuses on the manufacture of doors and mouldings.
Death of the founder, Mr. Roland Boulanger. His son, Guy, takes the reins as president and general manager.
1979 to 1987
Acquisition of the company Les Boiseries de l’Est, a moulding manufacturer located in Ste-Clotilde-de-Horton, Quebec. It becomes a moulding finishing plant.
Purchase of a building on Gingras street in Warwick, which becomes a door assembly plant and distribution centre.
Boulanger acquires Moulures Bégin, a major moulding manufacturer located in Beauport, Quebec.
1991 to 1998
The production of mouldings is centralized in Warwick.
Boulanger stops manufacturing doors.
Boulanger achieves ISO certification. Acquisition of the company’s first finishing line.
Roland Boulanger & Cie ltee is listed among the top 50 best managed privately-owned businesses in Canada. Acquisition and implementation of cutting-edge technology: artificial vision for sawing.
2000 to 2010
Acquisition of Lega Ltee., a company specializing in the manufacture of mouldings and decorative accessories. It is located in St-Germain-de-Grantham, Quebec.
The distribution centre on Gingras street is expanded, refitted and automated. Acquisition of Industries Daveluyville Inc., a wood drying company located in Daveluyville, Quebec. Part of the building is converted into a transhipment facility.
Greater emphasis placed on developing global supply networks.
Manufacture and distribution of Embassy ceiling. An innovative product in the category of suspended ceilings.
Alexis Boulanger becomes president, succeeding his father. Guy Boulanger becomes Executive Chairman of the Board of Roland Boulanger & Cie ltee.
Acquisition of Les Produits Forestiers J.V. inc, a company specializing in the manufacture of mouldings and decorative accessories located in St-Nicolas, Quebec.
Launch of a new exterior siding product: the WARWICK Collection.
The Boulanger family receives the prestigious Prix Patrimoine at the 5th AQMAT (Québec Hardware and Building Supply Association) Recognition Gala. This event puts the spotlight on an exemplary family business with a history of at least two generations, and a company where succession truly matters.
